We are seeking a Community Relations Specialist for Faith. The Community Relations Specialist for Faith Based Programs reports directly to the Senior Advisor to the Vice President for State and Local Affairs. The State and Local Affairs staff will engage the faith-based community to promote equitable access to healthcare and improve community health outcomes in alignment with the Johns Hopkins University and Medicine's Community Health Needs Assessment priorities, including Access to Care, Chronic Disease Management and Health Education, Behavioral Health, Diabetes and Obesity, and Cardiovascular Disease. The manager's outreach efforts will focus on engagement within the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center catchment areas and involve the management of public and private partnerships, providing input on proposed policies and programs, civic engagement, and engagement in the community-based grants and sponsorship processes.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate the Office's faith-based engagement in East Baltimore City and Southeast Baltimore County, with a focus on the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center catchment areas.
- Support the faith-based COVID-19 and vaccination outreach and recruitment efforts.
- Support efforts to enhance faith-based family and patient relations at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in coordination with the hospitals' Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy departments.
- Partner with faith-based organizations and stakeholders serving the community in alignment of the Johns Hopkins University and Health System outreach.
- Identify key issues affecting the faith-based community and engage the State and Local Affairs Team in identifying necessary resources and solutions.
- Ensure outreach to and inclusion of faith-based organizations in Johns Hopkins University and Health System community grant and sponsorship opportunities.
- Collaborate and coordinate with Johns Hopkins University and Health System leadership and staff dedicated to working on faith-based engagement and health equity issues to ensure consistency of desired outcomes.
- Coordinate with the Office's Communications Manager to promote faith-based engagement to internal and external audiences.
- In coordination with the Office's State Affairs and Local Government Affairs teams, participate in government affairs outreach and engagement with State and local elected officials.
- Uses principles of community organizing in order to best support congregational medical-religious partnerships.
- Flexible hours are required.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Three years related experience required.
- Additional related experience can substitute for education in accordance with the JHU equivalency formula.
- Minimum three years related experience in community engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management.

- Works in the community congregational settings for education and programming.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
