We are seeking a Research Technologist who will be responsible for implementing and supporting the ongoing research activities of the Comparative Neural Systems and Behavior Lab in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. Under the direct supervision of the PI, postdoctoral, and graduate student researchers and following established research protocols, the Research Technologist will assist with collecting video and audio data and will assist with analyzing this data. The Research Technologist will also be expected to ensure that experiment data is appropriately organized and saved according to lab procedures. The Research Technologist may also provide support for day-to-day lab management including maintaining inventory of lab supplies and ensuring that the lab space is orderly and organized.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Support lab members by assisting with collecting video and audio recordings of experiments.
- Organize and save video and audio data recordings to established storage devices.
- Assist lab members with analyzing resultant data.
- Provide support for day-to-day management of the lab by assisting with maintaining the inventory of lab supplies and ensuring that the lab space is organized.
- Provide support and assistance as necessary to ensure the welfare of the animal subjects (may include providing food and/or water, laundering bedding, or monitoring environmental conditions in vivarium spaces)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in neuroscience, behavioral biology, psychology, basic science, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous research experience in a behavioral neuroscience lab.
- Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
