The Nayar laboratory is seeking a full-time Research Technologist to perform cutting-edge research into the mechanisms of drug resistance in breast cancer. Start date is negotiable and can range from May-August 2023. The laboratory is located within the Bloomberg School of Public Health and is dedicated to the study of therapeutic resistance in breast cancer. Equally important to our mission is the training of the next generation of cancer researchers. Our goal is to lessen the public health burden of breast cancer through science. The research technologist has the opportunity to work on one or more of several projects available in the lab focusing on transcriptional control of resistance, therapeutic vulnerabilities of resistant cancer, and large-scale oncogene variant-to-function efforts. Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Designing and performing laboratory experiments as part of a collaborative scientific team.
- Documenting, compiling, and analyzing experimental data accurately.
- Participating in regular lab and small group meetings.
- Reporting findings in oral and written formats, including manuscripts.
- Maintaining and organizing the lab, including keeping track of supplies and reagents, and ordering and stocking the lab.
- Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry or related field.
- Some related post-undergraduate work experience.
- Prior research experience in a laboratory setting.
- We are looking for candidates who work well with others, are enthusiastic to learn, highly organized, and motivated to contribute to the scientific and mentorship goals of the lab.

Starting Salary Range: $15.00-$20.40-$25.50 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
