The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is searching for an Casual Administrative Coordinator who provides administrative support to the pediatric division. Provides the day-to-day administrative and technical support to the faculty and advanced practice providers in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery to ensure a smoothly functioning office; Exercises independent judgement in the resolution of administrative problems and prioritizes workload; Provides administrative support functions, including clerical support to faculty and staff, including meeting scheduling/management, travel coordination, paperwork and forms processing for practice, phone call answering/triage, reimbursement and check request management, and literature review/manuscript development assistance for research activities. The position will also assist with travel reimbursements for all of the providers within the division.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides day-to-day administrative and technical support
- Responsible for answering the telephone and providing information to callers
- Meeting scheduling and calendar management
- Travel coordination
- Paperwork and forms processing for practice
- Reimbursement and check request management
- Literature review/manuscript development assistance for research activities
- Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent
- Three years related experience
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a related medical office, hospital, call center or customer service environment.
- Medical terminology.
- Intermediate computer and proofreading skills.

Starting Salary Range: $17.95 - $25.30 - $32.60 hourly (Commensurate with experience)

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
