We are seeking an CCDA Navigator who will be responsible for leading data analytics and additional support of performance measures, ongoing measurement, data collection, reporting, data visualization, and information dissemination. Is subject matter data expert that work with complex IT solutions to solve high priority organizational analytic problems in their work area. This role involves developing and finetuning exploratory IT solutions, which includes coding, testing, debugging, designing, and implementing newly developed BI solutions. Works under the supervision of a Data Trust Analytic Team Leader or other data governance or analytic leadership appropriate for the scope of work. This supervision may be through a matrixed or direct reporting structures. This position is responsible for serving as the liaison between Clinical Research Teams and the PMAP technical teams to streamline IRB, Data Trust, data provisioning and data access experiences.
This position will require a significant level of collaboration with the IT director, Precision Medicine core team leaders, PMAP data management and product management teams, and engineers on the CCDA team. This position will,
- Partner with each PMAP customer, starting at the time of intake, to help the study team navigate the data access process from intake, through the institutional reviews, to data delivery, data analysis, and to project completion.
- Assess the customers technical and analytic capacity and connect the team with CCDA software engineers or biostatistical expertise where needed to remove data roadblocks and wheel-spinning.
- Produce data wayfinding training materials and use cases. The role will also document the outcome of each consultation meeting, creating a library of general information to post on the Precision Medicine web site and collaboration tools such as Teams or Confluence. The library of information will capture frequently asked questions and answers to improve the overall information exchange.
- Provide data-related guidance beyond data extraction, at every project phase (pre- and post-data delivery). Post data delivery, hold data walk-through sessions, connect teams with training materials, and be on call to answer data-specific questions, ensuring that teams feel comfortable with their projected data.
- Training new Data Registry Managers
- Will also follow all applicable institutional policies and State and Federal regulations for privacy, security, and the conduct of human subject research.
- Will work with PMAP and CCDA engineers on extract/transform/load projects which could last in duration from 1 day to several months. The major systems with which the position interfaces are PMAP, Epic, and other systems ingested into PMAP.
- Work with about one hundred different users annually, primarily from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, but also from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, Nursing, and the Engineering Program at the Homewood Campus. The position may require some travel to the Johns Hopkins Hospital and possibly to other locations in Baltimore in order to meet with customers. The most complex part of this job is learning about the nuances of the data in large institutional databases, with data for about 7 million patients.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Process large amounts of information to draw conclusions based on intelligence findings.

- Help manage custom application development and create delivery model strategies, as well as provide scalable services related to high performance visualization tools and infrastructure design.

- Researching and planning analytic solutions for existing and new problems within the organization as directed by the supervisor and/or leadership.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- For positions working with patient-related data, requires a thorough knowledge of health care and hospital business operations.
- Knowledge and understanding of the interrelationship of business process and Information Systems applications.
- Thorough knowledge of data warehouse and data management principles and processes and database development.
- Understands the range of options and best practices for common Business intelligence design techniques such as change data capture, key generation and optimization, and performance tuning.
- Significant experience with data quality, data profiling, metadata management and reporting.
- Knowledge of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Strong proficiency in SQL programming, query writing, query performance tuning, and database technologies.
- Advanced knowledge in medical terminology and clinical informatics for positions working with patient-related data
- Ability to distill and articulate technical and organizational approach to clinical data needs.
- Goal oriented and action-focused, pragmatic and self-disciplined, organized with ability to facilitate and interact effectively with upper levels of management.
- Ability to plan, organize, direct, implement and evaluate processes to lead projects and manage resources to achieve desired result.
- Strong programming, analytical, and computational skills.
- Ability to convey technical methods, approaches and plans to audience of varying degrees of technical understanding including clinical and business stakeholders and technical team.
- Ability to manage long term client and vendor relationships, including resolution of production issues and upgrades, to help future product development better to meet the needs of the organization.
- Demonstrated command of web technologies and business intelligence techniques & tools.
- Must be detail-oriented and accurate.
- Advanced degree of problem solving in a fast paced, high dynamic and complex environment.
- Awareness of the need for timely communication, ability to identify potential barriers and strategies, and ability to synthesize and integrate information.
- Knowledge of and ability to use multiple information systems and software.
- Expert proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet software, database structures, and the internet.
- Completes mandatory Epic and/or other software or analytic tool training as required.
Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications
- EDW internal certification required within 6 months for positions working with patient-related data.
- A certification such as Certified Analytics Professional, project management, or a certification in a data analytic tool such as Tableau Software, or Epic required. For positions with patient-related data, the ability to obtain Epic Caboodle or Clarity Certification as requested in the first year.
- If the candidate does not already have Epic Clarity Certification, then they will be expected to attend training sessions at Epic Headquarters in Verona Wisconsin for training leading to Clarity certification. Certification is required for this job. In order to remain employed in this position, the candidate must pass the certification test in 3 attempts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline (details in supplement).
- Minimum of 8 years of related and progressive experience in healthcare IT, analytics, software development or data management. Experience with Business intelligence development tools such as tableau and SAS and programming tools such as R, Python, and SQL.
- Requires demonstrated experience in project management or management and experience working with external vendors.
- Additional experience may be substituted for education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge in the assigned application as well as the platform on which it runs.
- Master's Degree.
- Graduate degree in education, business, or a relevant technical discipline.
- Experience in leading enterprise-wide software systems. Experience with clinical research projects and/or working in an academic medicine environment.
- SQL Server Management Studio experience, including writing basic select and update statements and joining multiple database tables.
- Basic command of clinical research methods and epidemiologic principles, including missing-data handling, imputation (and its perils), parametric vs. non-parametric analysis, skewed distributions, implications of continuous vs. categorical data, assessing measurement error, form design, PID validation, CPT data, and ICD9/ICD10 diagnosis categories and handling within Epic.
