We are seeking a Laboratory Technician in the Translational Tissue Engineering Center at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, to participate in the development and animal evaluation of novel materials, chemistries, and/or therapeutic encapsulation strategies for the treatment of autoimmune disorders and cancer in the laboratory of Professor Joshua C. Doloff. The Doloff lab research focuses on the interface of biomaterials science, biotechnology and therapeutics for the treatment of disease in the context of Immunoengineering and Regenerative Medicine. A qualified candidate will help with performing in vitro and animal studies in rodents.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities include cell culture, synthetic biology cellular engineering, centrifugation, taking in vitro and animal assay measurements, histology, fluorescent staining and imaging, qPCR, flow cytometry analysis and FACS sorting, and new molecular fabrication.
- Candidate would also maintain daily logs/basic records of methodologies and test results.
- With supervision, may summarize data and interpret results using descriptive statistics and basic hypothesis testing.
- May write standard operating procedures for documentation and make informal presentations of these procedures to others in the lab.
- Performs literature searches and library investigations as they relate to the research and/or as assigned.
- Summarize and report results to researchers.
- Must possess basic safety issue awareness and the ability to follow protocols to keep a safe work environment.
- Other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent with some science course work.
- Experience in basic laboratory procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training Certificate from Technical Institute or internship experience.
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Life Science, Chemistry or a related scientific field.
- Basic lab experience performing animal studies.
- Background in cell culture, cell/tissue engineering, or molecular biology.
