Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering seeks a Marketing/Recruitment Manager to execute marketing and communication, and support recruitment efforts primarily for Lifelong Learning both pre-collegiate and our executive education programs. The candidate will work directly with the Assistant Dean of Marketing and Communications, the Director of Recruitment Marketing, and the stakeholders of Lifelong Learning to help build and maintain a strong and consistent brand through a wide range of online and offline marketing and recruitment efforts.


Marketing/Recruitment Manager responsibilities include the project management, planning, execution, tracking and analysis of marketing and communication campaigns designed to increase awareness, engage alumni, and drive prospects for these programs. The candidate will collaborate with and execute efforts associated with third party vendors, industry and corporate partners, alumni and other external and internal affiliates as needed. The successful candidate will understand the user journey and work with appropriate recruitment, admissions and enrollment services staff with a common goal of driving prospects through the funnel from leads to enrollments.


Efforts may include project managing campaigns and vendors, content creation and maintenance, social media and digital marketing campaigns, lead nurturing supports, email marketing, collateral development, event coordination, and other tasks as needed and assigned.


Candidate must effectively work within budget parameters and ensure that all marketing materials are in line with our brand identity.


Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and in accordance with overall marketing communication and school goals and strategy.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities


Recruitment & Marketing

  • Develop marketing and communication strategies and tactics to raise awareness of Whiting Lifelong Learning programs thereby driving prospective students to apply.
  • Develop marketing and communication strategy for engaging industry and businesses, alumni, school leaders, parents, and other key partners appropriate to the products' partners.
  • Deploy successful marketing campaigns and own their implementation from ideation to execution to performance tracking and reporting.
  • Experiment with a variety of organic and paid acquisition channels like content creation, content curation, digital campaigns, event management, social media, emails, grass roots outreach, print, etc.
  • Produce valuable and engaging content for websites, blogs, social media and etc. to attract and convert target audiences.
  • Work with the internal team to create and distribute marketing materials, as needed.
  • Measure and report on the performance of marketing, social media, and email campaigns, gain insight and assess against goals; adjust resource allocation to optimize performance.
  • Manage contact list of program alumni.
  • Use alumni contact list to engage alumni as program champions and to share new programming opportunities in regular alumni newsletters.
  • Demonstrable experience in marketing along with the potential and attitude required to learn.
  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools such as Google Analytics
  • Experience in setting up and optimizing Google Search
  • Experience creating and managing social campaigns to recruit students and enhance school awareness.
  • Demonstrate current knowledge of the latest trends and best practices in online marketing execution and tracking.


Project Management

  • Determine and define the scope, stakeholders, objectives, and timelines for projects to ensure successful and timely completion.
  • Ability to use project management tools, such as Basecamp, Asana, Microsoft Planner, JIRA or similar project management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple marketing projects simultaneously while keeping all stakeholders informed on status and progress.
  • Help project manage website design and development and content creation with internal constituents and outside vendors.
  • Manage budgets, vendors, selection of vendors etc. as needed.
  • Support industry or corporate partnerships in conjunction with stakeholders


Collaboration

  • Build strategic relationships with colleagues across JHU, with vendors, key industry players, and etc.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Work effectively within the communications and marketing department


Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in assessing multifaceted situations and collaborating across complex organizations.
  • Experience working with creative teams in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking, project management and organizational communications skills
  • An ability to operate independently, set priorities, and adjudicate competing needs in a fast-paced organization.
  • Strong ability to translate complex research or scientific data into materials for lay audiences.
  • Understanding of CRM software, CMS platforms (WordPress), Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Analytics, Mailchimp or other email marketing platforms, other tracking tools, social media and digital marketing platforms
  • Project management experience
  • Samples of writing, materials, or campaigns preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative working relationships and identify, assess, and meet diverse client needs.
  • Experience in managing website creation and/or maintenance.
  • Ability to organize workflow, prioritize and manage multiple projects with minimal direction, meet deadlines, think critically and creatively, and exercise sound judgment.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Graphic Design, English, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Social Sciences or a related field.
  • Four years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic execution of marketing campaigns and project management.
  • Experience in higher education preferred, but not required.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
