The Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease is seeking a Sr. Research Program Coordinator to coordinate the administrative and scientific implementation of long-term AHRQ-funded or other investigator-initiated, research protocols examining the transmission and progression of hospital-associated infectious diseases, diagnostic and antibiotic stewardship, and infection prevention. Under moderate supervision this job supports the implementation of research studies and clinical trials through the oversight and coordination of protocol implementation and data collection. The range of duties includes, but is not limited to day-to-day logistical oversight, supervision of data collection activities, data management, records management, and regulatory oversight.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- General knowledge of principles, concepts, and theory behind research; applies general analytical skills to oversee the logistical implementation of assigned projects, and to identify situations requiring special attention. Utilizing this knowledge, the Sr. Research Program Coordinator will ensure adherence to research protocols, operating procedures, and all associated internal/external regulations.
- Use working knowledge to develop recruitment tools for assigned study(s), which include protocol/study specific data collection forms, consent forms, and internal/external regulatory required materials (e.g., IRB, NIH, etc.).
- Utilize working knowledge to assist in study design, contribute to the development of standard operating procedures, and will recommend changes to operational procedures based on results and goals of a study(s).
- Conduct literature searches to provide background information.
- Assist with manuscript and presentation preparation.
- Develop and maintain moderately complex tracking database/spreadsheet based on study requirements utilizing Excel, Access, or similar software applications. May use statistical software packages.
- Use data collection instruments and protocols developed in collaboration with study investigators to supervise all data collection with study participants at multiple study sites.
- Use standard statistical techniques to ensure data quality and accuracy as required by research protocol.
- Perform on-site and off-site audits as required by research protocol.
- Utilize working knowledge of study(s) to participate in meetings to provide operational updates, report on any operational issues, and make recommendations for resolutions to new/outstanding operational issues.
- Monitor fidelity of intervention protocol through the use of observational techniques and provide ongoing feedback to interventionists on issues pertaining to intervention fidelity.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Three years related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in related field.
- Experience using REDCap, eIRB.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.
