Goucher College seeks a visionary leader to serve as Director of our new Master of Arts in Digital Communication that will be launched in August 2023. This program will prepare students for innovative careers by developing a breadth of understanding about the digital space alongside more specialized training in tracks that focus on cultivating a skillset based on complex analysis and creative application. These tracks include Digital Arts Production and Digital Strategy & Promotion, and they are supported by core courses in theory, ethics, leadership, and writing. Courses will be offered both in-person and online.
The Director will guide all aspects of this new Master's degree, including its launch. Thus, this is a great opportunity for those interested in building a new academic initiative and for those who have an entrepreneurial and creative sense that intersects with the latest trends in digital communication. The Director's duties will include overseeing the program curriculum, faculty, and budget, and contribute to program recruiting, admissions, and marketing. The Director will also teach a total of four graduate and undergraduate courses per year (online and in-person) and advise students. The Program Director is a non-tenure-track (3-year renewable), 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A terminal degree in communication, media, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of higher education teaching experience using active learning techniques or a combination of higher education teaching experience and professional experience in communication, media, or a related field
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience leading an academic program
- Minimum 3 years of online teaching experience using inclusive pedagogies
- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development at the graduate level
- Professional and/or higher education teaching experience in public relations, social media, strategic communication, or related field
