The Pediatrics Department is seeking a full-time Research Program Assistant for the Allergy/Immunology & Rheumatology Division. Under the supervision and direction of the Investigators and Research Nurse Coordinator, the research program assistant will help with various activities vital to various Allergy Projects.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Consent study participants.
- Assist research team with recruiting subjects.
- Perform as needed Home Visits to collect data and/or samples.
- Administer study questionnaires to study participants either in off-site office or in participants home.
- Collect study samples.
- Facilitate collection and delivery of samples collected off-site.
- Data entry in study database, resolving issues with missing data.
- Organizing and maintaining research files.
- Assisting with patient visit scheduling.
- Attend weekly research study team meetings.
- Maintain excellent communication among study team members.
- Support other research activities.
- Lend general support to office as needed; includes filing and record-keeping.
- Other duties as assigned based on the needs of the research program.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Candidate must have exceptional organizational skills.
- Self-Starter with a high degree of initiative.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Operating basic office machines and tablets.
- Candidate will need to provide own transportation between Howard County Hospital and Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Physical Requirements
- Position requires walking from the 550 Bldg to the Bloomberg Childrens Center.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent, with some college courses preferred.
- Some related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some related coursework or administrative experience.
- Some college courses.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Two (2) years of related experience.

Starting Salary Range: $15.00-$18.90-$22.50 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
