We are seeking a CO Nurse Midwife (NM) who will be working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary health team, responsible for providing comprehensive obstetrical and well-women care to both ambulatory patients and inpatients. The NM educates and intervenes in the antepartum, intra partum, and postpartum continuum. The NM practices within the guidelines of the department, and the Institution in accordance with the Nurse Practitioner-Physician Written Agreement required and approved by the State of Maryland. The NM is granted affiliate staff privileges by the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, and the Johns Hopkins Hospital; these privileges are renewed annually. The NM is responsible to the preceptor and department head for nursing standards and practice.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Ob/Gyn Clinic-Provide urgent and non-urgent care to antepartum and postpartum patients.
- Order appropriate labs, ultrasounds and consults as needed. Initiation of contraception for postpartum patients (IUD-insertion and removals, OCP, Depo-Provera, etc.) Gyn problems: DUB, EMB, vulva biopsy.
- OB Triage-Covers Labor and Delivery every Tuesday and on as needed basis.
- Provide emergency/urgent care to obstetrical patients throughout pregnancy and postpartum. Assess, evaluate, and implement treatment.
- Intrapartum-completes history, physical assessment, admissions, frequent evaluation of labor progress and interventions as needed.
- Management of labor and delivery, including possible complications and repairs.
- Postpartum-Evaluation, intervention, and care of postpartum patients.
- Provide appropriate teaching, education, and information with postpartum care.
- Alost assists with lactation and family planning.
- Circumcision-Circumcising newborn babies in nursery and NICU.
- Education-Serve as a resources and educator of medical and nursing students and residents.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse license and Certified as aNurse Midwife. Must be licensed as a Nurse Midwife in the State of Maryland.

Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification required.
Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment.
Completion of the JHH (insert the designated work location) credentialing process is required prior to start date.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing and walking for extended period. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s). Ability to move standard equipment through a hospital or clinical environment
