This position reports to the Sr. Data Analyst and is primarily responsible for preparation and maintenance of metrics and tools that quantify the operations of the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine (FJHM) including the four Johns Hopkins Health System hospital foundations. The Specialist utilizes an understanding of relational databases, database query tools, and data analysis techniques to report on all aspects of development operations, and enhance any aspect of development management. The Specialist will partner with FJHM administrators to identify opportunities to utilize bespoke technology-driven tools to optimize process efficiency. The Specialist directly supports the work of the Sr. Data Analyst in extracting, compiling, and formatting data from multiple sources, and preparing relevant analysis and visualizations.



Fundraising Reporting

The incumbent sources data from Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) databases through direct querying and connecting data to business intelligence platforms to support the successful execution of regular and ad hoc reporting to the FJHM leadership and development offices as well as help with the creation of meaningful analytics to assist FJHM decision makers to make data-driven decisions.

  • Maintains, prepares, and updates monthly, fiscal year, campaign, and ad hoc fundraising progress and work plan report products for FJHM and its 21 distinct development offices including but not limited to the Workplan Snapshot (monthly), FY Run Rate (monthly), Anticipated Commitments reports (monthly), Development Office Historical Snapshot (twice-yearly), and 5 Year Giving Analysis (yearly) with feedback and final review by Sr. Data Analyst.
  • Independently fulfills general requests for in-depth historical fundraising metrics
  • Assist with the assessment of reporting requests and correspondingly help create regular and ad hoc reporting in order to proactively address reporting needs.



Analytics & Data Visualization

Provide support to the Assistant Director on a wide range of analytics and reporting projects, including data and relevant analytics and visualizations for meetings, projects, reports, and proposals.

  • Routinely create, maintain, and update data sources associated with dashboards on the Tableau platform as well as inspects public dashboards to ensure they are operating optimally with final review and validation by Sr. Data Analyst.
  • Help plan and disseminate any pertinent data sets or visualizations for FJHM leadership, staff members, faculty, donors, and volunteers



Administrative and Operations Support

The incumbent will work with development offices to identify administrative tasks for opportunities to maximize operational efficiency. Then use a variety of technologies to build out custom, sustainable solutions.

  • Utilize Excel, Visual Basic, PowerQuery, PowerAutomate, SharePoint, and other technologies to build, maintain, and upgrade custom tools for Fund administrators.
  • Perform Root Cause analysis and independently research administrative challenges and present solutions to the relevant parties.
  • Introduce and familiarize DOFFs on using self-service reporting tools and systems like Tableau.


Medical Fundraising Data & Compliance Support

The incumbent provides support to all aspects of medical fundraising data quality and reporting, including:

  • Administrate the scheduling and delivery of grateful patient report products to the 20 divisional development offices and 90+ front-line fundraisers.
  • Work with the Office of Medical Annual Giving to process fundraising opt-outs submitted by medical constituents.
  • Coordinate DAR Service Desk tickets assigned to Medical Development Services and assist with data management and quality activities of MDSA and DAR



Partner Hospital and Annual Giving Support

The incumbent assists the Sr. Data Analyst with facilitating collaborative, forward planning, and productive relationships.

  • Provide support to Partner foundation counterparts in retrieving data DAR databases, producing reports and analysis, and assist with any projects related to Partner data.
  • Assist in compiling data and metrics related to collaborative annual giving initiatives of the Partner foundation programs and FJHM Office of Medical Annual Giving
  • Help facilitate the continual process of standardizing business rules between the partner hospital foundations and FJHM
  • Assist with the planning, logistics, and execution of the quarterly FJHM/Partner Hospital Data Working group meetings







Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of related experience
  • Additional education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula

  • Proficient in providing high-level data analysis, administrative oversight, and coordination.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in queries and reports.
  • Experience in data management and a working knowledge of fundraising information systems and development revenue cycle.
