General Description

The Assistant Director of Constituent Engagement is part of CTY's Development and Alumni Relations team and will assist with the coordination of activities designed to create awareness, foster communication, stimulate involvement and strengthen the connection between CTY and its alumni, parents, volunteers, and donors. The position will report to the Director of Alumni Relations and Constituent Engagement to assist with implementing strategies to increase engagement and philanthropy. In addition, this role will coordinate and execute a broad range of programs and events to encourage participation from CTY's diverse group of alumni. The ideal candidate for this position is eager to inform constituents of the benefits of being engaged with CTY and supporting through participation and philanthropy.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Devise, implement and manage new strategies that creatively engage alumni and donors on a regular and frequent basis through programs, events, and communications.
  • Assist with the development, writing, design, and distribution of alumni communications, including but not limited to, email, social media, newsletters, solicitations, and emerging modes of communication.
  • Content management of social media including Facebook and LinkedIn accounts. Monitor membership and stay up to date on new methods and evolving technologies to increase alumni and donor development and awareness.
  • Assist with planning and writing content for the alumni and donor newsletter and other communication pieces including annual giving messaging for key fundraising initiatives such as Giving Tuesday and Pi Day, CTY's annual day of giving.
  • Oversee the content and maintenance of the alumni page on the CTY website in coordination with the Communication and Marketing team.
  • Manage the alumni email account.
  • Help recruit members and work closely with the Alumni Leadership Committee (ALC), which supports the Alumni Relation's efforts to create and sustain meaningful opportunities for alumni to stay connected to CTY.
  • Visit and cultivate a portfolio of alumni, parents, and volunteers to identify potential donors and reach an annual visit and fundraising goal.
  • Partner with other departments in CTY to identify opportunities to collaborate on existing programs and develop new engagement and volunteer opportunities.
  • Identify and implement assessment tools to measure and track alumni and donor engagement with the goal to increase participation
  • Assist in updating CTY alumni and donor contact information in both the CTY and JHU databases.




Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years related experience.


Preferred Qualifications

Additional graduate-level education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

  • Comfortable actively communicating with external constituents.
  • Event planning or volunteer management experience with small and large groups.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong communication and project management skills
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new computer software systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing deadlines and multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work as part of an effective team with a results-oriented approach
  • Innovative and open to trying new strategies to create fun and compelling experiences.
  • May include hours outside of normal working hours and on the weekend.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.
