The Senior Associate Director for Homewood Annual Giving in the Office of Annual Giving (OAG) at Johns Hopkins University reports to the Director of Annual Giving and Digital Strategy.
This role is a strategic partner and service provider in a decentralized university and development environment. This role will lead the day-to-day direct response operation (direct mail, direct e-mail, phonathon, and crowdfunding) for a portfolio of internal partners that collectively comprise the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus. These internal partners include the undergraduate and graduate schools for the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering, the athletic program called Blue Jays Unlimited, the Parents Program, along with various affinity-based and student-facing organizations. The Sr. Associate Director will manage a new team of three assistant directors who are charged with increasing alumni undergraduate donor participation, as well as increasing donor count, revenue, and pipeline for the graduate and affinity programs. By collaborating closely with the schools and programs, coupled with leveraging data-insights, this role will make strategic decisions around the segmentation, messaging, timing, and channel of solicitations.
The Office of Annual Giving is a growing team that currently consists of fifteen colleagues who provide annual giving services to the nine schools of the university, various departments of Johns Hopkins Medicine, and several centers and institutes, totaling nearly 40 partners. These annual giving services include developing comprehensive and integrated direct response solicitation strategies that are optimal for each unit.
Specific duties & responsibilities
- Working closely with the Sr. Director & Head of OAG as well as the Director of Annual Giving, the Senior Associate Director for Homewood Annual Giving will partner with the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering to develop and implement comprehensive direct response annual giving strategies which maximizes the revenue and donor count for the schools.
- Manage three Assistant Directors of Annual Giving who are focused on various aspects of the Homewood annual giving apparatus including digital engagement, affinity giving, and stewardship.
- Serve as a key principle in the University priority of increasing undergraduate alumni participation by developing a regular cadence of reporting and analytics around key funding priorities and undergraduate giving goals. Proactively manage against goals to create meaningful reports that support data-driven decision making.
- Partner with central and divisional gift officers to build and measure donor pipeline for the Homewood campus. Collaborate to create authentic opportunities for gift officers to engage prospects around varying funding opportunities as a part of their annual work plans and activities.
- Meet regularly with Homewood Programs, Krieger School, Whiting School, Athletics, Parents Program, and others to discuss year-to-date results, upcoming projects, and key unit initiatives.
- Be a resident expert on the audiences of different Homewood segments through giving behavior data and trend analysis, towards the goal of crafting direct response campaigns that upgrade, maintain, and acquire donors.
- In partnerships with colleagues across DAR, develop and implement a best-in-class donor retention plan for Homewood Undergraduate alumni donors.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree is required.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, sales/marketing is required; preferably in higher education.

- Ability to provide solid customer service while understanding the boundaries around confidentiality and protected patient information.
- Strong organizational and prioritizing skills with ability to stay calm under pressure when handling multiple tasks.
