Contractual Academic Support Services Coordinator - (22000102)

The University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) - Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center has an exciting opportunity for a contractual, full-time Academic Support Services Coordinator.

Government sponsors provide funding to the Cancer Center to provide medical research to cancer patients. The SEPA Award is provided to foster the development of new programs to improve K-12 and the general public's understanding of health science advances created by National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded clinical and basic research. The selected candidate will perform administrative duties that support the SEPA AWARD which is necessary to provide educational and job opportunities to underserved middle and high school students.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Supports a variety of day-to-day operations of an academic program in a school, department, or division, or specialty programs.
  • Assists in organizing and maintaining the operational functions of the department.
  • Serves as a resource for students, faculty and staff by assisting with coordinating academic activities, programs, and extracurricular seminars.
  • Works with the team to coordinate recruitment, organize student schedules, coordinate program activities, and work with the team to implement the summer curriculum.
  • Assists in the development, and creation of program coursework communications and promotional literature for distribution, such as newsletters, brochures or flyers.
  • Receive, screen, and respond to inquiries by providing general information about the program.
  • Assist with composing and editing documents such as class materials, handouts, syllabus, and program and marketing materials to ensure they meet University standards.
  • Responsible for tracking attendance and serving as the liaison between our program and the Youthworths to ensure scholars are paid.
  • Serves as the primary contact for placing students into faculty labs for rotations and future internships, and facilitating relationships between students, parents and faculty.
  • Ensures that all necessary paperwork is completed for the university, as well as with managing the data collection process for student and faculty feedback and surveys.
  • Collects, stores, and assembles data for RPPRs and dissemination.
  • Maintains and updates the student data in the Research Logix Database for longterm tracking purposes and ensure IRB compliance throughout the study.
  • Implements inter-program coordinating including the other research training programs on campus.
  • Serves as a liaison between students, residents, or faculty and department staff regarding payroll, benefits, reimbursements, and other administrative matters.
  • Provides administrative support for academic programs including maintaining the calendar and scheduling meetings, responding to emails, answering and screening calls, preparing correspondence and reports, and maintaining department files.
  • Assists with developing student experiences by arranging extracurricular seminars, study sessions, or workshops.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field.

Experience: Two (2) years of related administrative experience in which program coordination is the primary responsibility.

Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.

Hiring Range: $47,000-53,000
