The Health Center at Towson University is accepting applications for a Coordinator of Health Education and Promotion. The position provides direct delivery of health education initiatives to improve the health and well-being of Towson University students. The Coordinator fosters a healthy campus environment that supports student learning, academic performance, and retention. Supervises peer educators and student interns.
The Coordinator of Health Education and Promotion provides direct delivery of health education services to Towson University students. The Coordinator develops and implements interactive, culturally competent, and evidence-based trainings and programs. Responsible for programming on a variety of health topics including: sexual violence prevention, sexual health, healthy relationships, sleep hygiene, cold and flu prevention, and other primary health care topics. Supports print and social media marketing and awareness campaigns to promote the Health Center, prevent unhealthy behaviors, and foster a healthy campus climate. The Coordinator recruits, trains, and supervises peer educators. Uses an ecological, collaborative approach to health promotion as described in the ACHA‘s Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education. Works collaboratively with campus and community partners. Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to serving on campus-wide and divisional committees. Occasional evenings and weekends are required for programs and events.
- Master's degree
- One year of experience in college health, health promotion, or other health related experience.
- Knowledge of current and emerging college health issues
- Understanding of theories and models of health promotion and behavioral change
- Experienced in the design, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based, cost-effective, best practice health promotion programs
- Organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking
- Ability to work as a team member and with a diverse population of colleagues and students
Preferred:
- Experience working with college students
- Experience working with peer educators
- Proven record of successful social media and marketing campaigns
- Exceptional presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
