Hopkins Athletics is multidivisional department with 22 programs competing at the NCAA DIII level and two programs (men’s and women’s lacrosse) competing at the NCAA Division I level (BIG 10 Conference). The department also hosts a variety of robust recreational activities such as club sports, intramurals, and fitness programming.

In 2021, the department completed a $27 million dollar renovation and expansion of the Ralph S. O’Connor Center for Recreation and Well-Being. This facility features all new state-of-the-art equipment for strength and cardiovascular training, expanded group exercise offerings, and mindfulness and meditation programming. The focus is on fostering holistic student health and a community of care. In addition, The Bill Starr Varsity Weight Room also underwent a complete renovation in 2021 by adding an additional 3,800 square feet of team and individual student-athlete training space. This investment includes all new training equipment, a nutrition fueling station, and the latest in performance technology.

The Hopkins Athletics department seeks an innovative and forward thinking Coordinator of Business Development ASAP. The Coordinator of Business Development must generate revenue and build external relationships within the framework of a best in class athletic department at Johns Hopkins University. Hopkins encourages inquiries from candidates who value professional and personal development and will actively contribute toward a culture of inclusiveness within both the department and University setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Manage all revenue generating initiatives related to event rentals, camps and clinics. Must develop annual goal structure and meet and/or exceed yearly.

•Assist the Director of Marketing & Corporate Sponsorship in solicitation and fulfillment of sponsorship agreements.

•Serve as primary contact for rental events including event intake, correspondences, preparing estimates, facility scheduling, implementation, managing day of logistics, collection of payment and necessary paperwork.

•Implement a marketing plan to retain repeat business and expand customer base.

•Negotiate, draft and execute event rental contracts. Consult with General Council, Risk Management to ensure compliance with university guidelines.

•Support event tracking, reconciliation and track KPI event data under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director, Business Operations.

•Create, market, and implement a Hopkins Athletics and Recreation Youth Summer Camp. This will include hiring camp staff, developing camp procedures, and ensuring all State of Maryland regulations are followed.

•Provide varsity game management for select Fall, Winter and Spring sports throughout the academic year.

•Be able to work nights and week-ends, and be on-call for emergency situations.

•Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management or related field required.
  • Experience managing Camp/Clinic or rental events preferred.

PHYSICAL EFFORT/ENVIRONMENT:

General office, athletic facility, and campus environment. The position will require work outside and in inclement weather. Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Walking, standing, bending, twisting, and occasional lifting is required. Computer usage involving repetitive and/wrist motion is required. The position will be a full-time, fiscal year appointment, with frequent evening and weekend work required throughout the year with those dates determined by a supervisor.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Operates on turf, grass, gymnasium, and training rooms. General open office and campus environment. Position involves sitting, movement, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds in coaching and training situations. Frequent travel and early morning/evening/weekend work is required.
