The Junior Web Developer is one of two professionals responsible for the management, development, and maintenance of www.goucher.edu, other outward facing websites, intranet, and all related web initiatives as required. This position reports to the Director of Web Services and supports the college's academic and administrative divisions with regard to web-related technical issues, website enhancements, updates, and training. The Jr. Web Developer produces fully responsive, accessibility compliant code for use in Goucher's content management systems. The Jr. Web Developer creates, formats, and delivers time-sensitive marketing email communications to internal and external audiences. The position also manages the online events calendar application and provides web analytics reports.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Required: High school Diploma or equivalency
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
Professional Experience:
Required: At least one year of professional web development experience or similar experience through related coursework and project portfolio. Demonstrated strong understanding and practical application of HTML, CSS, and other related web technologies. Knowledge and development experience using responsive web design/development techniques and best practices. The ability to learn rapidly and proactively master diverse web technologies and techniques.
Preferred: Ability to produce error free code from scratch without the use of a WYSIWYG editor. Experience with JavaScript or other programming languages. Experience with WordPress and other Content Management Systems.
Additional Information:
- Manage content, design, and development of www.goucher.edu and related web properties.
- Develop webpages and templates using HTML5/CSS3/Javascript/and related code libraries and frameworks. Implement web best practices with regard to responsive web design, accessibility compliance, browser compatibility, and search engine optimization. Troubleshoot and debug technical issues.
- Service all campus departments with support, training and strategy development as it pertains to departmental web development, marketing, and application of Web Content Management Systems (OmniCMS, WordPress, Sharepoint), events calendar application, and future web applications and technologies.
- Manage public-facing bulk email communications (e-blasts) and related systems.
- Monitor Goucher's online metrics and analytics and translate trends into actionable communications strategies. Prepare customized reporting of web analytics.
- Research, learn, and proactively master diverse and emerging web technologies and techniques for application on Goucher website and applications.
