This full-time position will report to the Executive Director of Alumnae/i Engagement. The primary responsibilities of this position include managing the strategy, content, and production of communication to alumni through email, social media and website content. Successful alumnae/i communications and outreach is an essential component for a vibrant college community; it is also a critical element in cultivating relationships that support volunteer-based programs and philanthropic initiatives. In addition, this position oversees volunteer management of alumni through identifying and marketing existing and new opportunities, and by providing volunteer training and recognition. This position will help expand volunteer opportunities, work with academic departments, better record who has volunteered and provide a consistent mechanism to recognize and thank our volunteers. This position also assists with the planning, development, and execution of traditional alumni events and programs.

Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree
Preferred: Master's degree
Professional Experience:
Required: Five to seven years' experience in higher education or related field. Knowledge and appreciation of the liberal arts, community building, and fundraising. Proficiency in online media platforms, social networking tools, volunteer management, and project management are required. Proven track record of sound judgement, excellent written and verbal communication skills, creativity, and strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Effective problem solver; adaptability is essential.
Preferred: Experience evaluating and administering online community software preferred; experience with Raisers Edge CRM preferred.
Additional Information:
Oversee electronic communications for the department of Alumnae/i Affairs, including email marketing to alumni, social media strategies and outreach, and management of alumni web pages, while ensuring coordination of a variety of communications to and from alumni. The Director also provides quality assurance for electronic communications coming out of the Advancement division and strategizes with the Office of Communications on content and design, and with Advancement Services on effective data transfer. This position serves as a liaison with Advancement Services for managing most front-end digital applications, including email marketing, event registrations and online directories. Advancing communications with alumni increases alumni engagement as a whole.
Manage a system to encourage alumni to volunteer by centralizing what opportunities are available on and off campus.
- Create a volunteer recognition program.
- Develops and administer a strategy for the recruitment, training, and stewardship of alumni volunteers.
- Develop and implement collaborative, on-going volunteer opportunities designed specifically for alumni.
- engage in a university-wide effort to facilitate use of alumni volunteers and help non-Advancement faculty and staff understand how we can help them (ie: lunch and learn discussion about resources through the alumni office, attend faculty meetings)
- Provide leadership training for board members and volunteers to help them be the best ambassadors for Goucher College.
Manage Alumnae/i Weekend online registration process. Assist with the planning of Alumnae/i Weekend in regards to communication platforms such as social media, photography and web content.
Assist with planning, development, and execution of Alumnae/i Affairs events and initiatives, including but not limited to print communications, coordination with staff, vendors, and campus partners.
