Summary:
The Assistant Director of Development, Corporate Relations, is an integral member of Johns Hopkins Children's Center development team. This position, which reports directly to the Director of Corporate Engagement and Events, is responsible for managing a portfolio of corporate partners and programs, engaging the support of new corporate partners and programs, and working to rebuild relationships with lapsed corporate partners and programs. The Assistant Director manages Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) specific corporate partners and programs (local and national relationships) through campaigns, visits, events, and conferences. He/she will continue to grow the Miracle Network Dance Marathon program by creating new relationships with Baltimore market colleges and high schools. S/he will also manage the Kids Helping Hopkins program, and assist the Director with major donors and events throughout the year. The Assistant Director will build relationships with CMNH national staff as well as collaborate with other CMNH Hospitals.
Areas of Responsibility:
Prospect Management
- Manages portfolio of a minimum of 120 annual and major corporate donor partnerships while providing assistance, when needed, to the Director's accounts. This includes a minimum of 100 donor visits annually. This portfolio includes CMNH partners and programs who raise annual five and six figure gifts for the Johns Hopkins Children's Center, and a variety of local corporate donors.
- Collaborate with the Director to implement strategy for building new donor pipeline by routinely identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding new corporate partnerships. This includes conducting research, performing qualification visits, providing sponsorship and fundraising opportunities, writing proposals, and conducting appropriate follow-up.
- Articulate the need for support of the Children's Center for unrestricted and priority needs to corporate and foundation prospects and donors.
- Keeps up-to-date with visit and proposal entry in ALADIN and utilize available reports to analyze corporate relations data. Also supports corporate team with data entry.
Children's Miracle Network Hospitals
- Responsible for meeting the many expectations of our corporate partners in the professional standards set by the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, and as outlined by the CMNH contract. This includes determining areas of growth, establishing relationships with non-participating/new locations, managing year-round CMNH icon campaigns, setting fundraising goals, engaging individual partner locations, providing year-round campaign support, and developing innovative stewardship strategy.
- Identifies and establishes opportunities for youth marketing fundraising. This includes building new collegiate and high school Miracle Network Dance Marathon programs. Builds strong relationships with and strategizes with Northeast Area Dance Marathon Managers.
- Collaborates with other CMNH hospitals to benchmark and learn best practices to further JHCC fundraising.
Events
- Supports Director and Associate Director with event logistics for Radiothon and KIDS CAN'T WAIT: 30 Day Miracle Movement.
- Represents the JHCC corporate relations team at signature events, as well as at third-party events.
- Collaborates with Director to identify signature event sponsorship opportunities for current and new corporate partners.
General Corporate Relations
- Manages the Kids Helping Hopkins program. Works with steering committee to revitalize and refine their roles and reinvent the program.
- Provides assistance with the Corporate Advisory Board, which is staffed by the Director.
- Responsible for corporate relations product development, purchasing/dissemination of campaign related items, and selecting and distributing donor recognition items for individual and corporate donors.
- Takes part in Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine and Johns Hopkins Development and Alumni Relations senior staff meetings and activities.
Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree
- 2 years fund-raising or related work experience preferred
- Ability to travel within and out-of-state
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to personal vehicle for transportation
- Ability to work weekends and evenings
- Ability to multi-task, while working under pressure and meeting deadlines
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and executing timely follow through on projects is essential
- Good sense of humor, and ability to work with a variety of people
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and familiarity with online fundraising software, email marketing software, and web-based research
- Other duties as assigned
