We are seeking an Associate Director of Marketing  who plays a key role in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to drive the planning, execution, and improvement of lead-generation initiatives through direct marketing, advertising, and partnerships, in support of enrollment goals. They will provide primary oversight of prospect generation, identify new opportunities for the office, develop and manage campaigns or other deliverables, and provide data analysis throughout.

 

Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, this position will oversee an Email Marketing Specialist and work closely with the leadership of the office, providing foundational insight for recruitment and programs. They will demonstrate a balance of strong analytical and project management skills as well as a creative aptitude.

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the office's direct marketing strategy and lead execution of direct marketing materials and campaigns.
  • Work with the directors to connect lead-generation analysis to recruitment-oriented strategy and assist in developing audience specifications for recruitment-oriented programs.
  • Manage vendor partnerships and work with internal and external marketing teams on creation of ads, campaigns and, visual presence.
  • Identify new/untapped opportunities where prospect data suggests an appetite for specific campaigns or programming.
  • Develop new outreach strategies and manage analytics to gauge performance.
  • Serve as a liaison to the office's technical team for campaign setup, data structures and dashboards for analytics, and assessing the efficacy of various marketing campaigns.
  • Provide quarterly and annual analysis of prospect generation and conversion activity to the Dean and Directors; and make recommendations for future prospect development opportunities.
  • Provide strategic recommendations on application pool projection based on prospect-level data.
  • As a member of the marketing and communications team they will also:
    • Provide general copy-writing and editorial support.
    • Participate in planning and brainstorming sessions with working groups and office leadership.
    • Edit own work and the work of others, to include re-writing when necessary.
    • Proofread and fact-check information.
    • Ensure a consistent look, message, and branding across all office communications.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field required.
  • Advanced degree may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*
  • Four years related experience required, preferably in a marketing role. Prior experience with direct marketing or admissions recruitment is preferred.

 

* JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits (semester hours) may substitute for one year of experience.  For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Special Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: 

  • Comprehensive understanding of multi-channel marketing and integrated campaigns to optimize reach, engagement, and attainment of recruitment goals.
  • An eye for detail, and copywriting and design sense, to produce high-quality marketing materials for both print and online.
  • Creativity and the ability to provide creative direction to others.
  • Proficiency in Slate or other CRM required.
  • Comfortable learning baseline reporting and campaign functions within a CRM.
  • Ability to convey complex subject matter to a general audience.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at juggling multiple assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment and able to manage multiple high-priority assignments.
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious work relationships with students, faculty, staff, University officials, and the public.
  • Communicates well with technical staff and other members of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions team.
