The publicity assistant coordinates administrative tasks for the Books publicity team and broader marketing department. The publicity assistant will also help with social media and awards processing. The position reports to the Publicity Manager.
The publicity assistant will join a team of exceptional professionals committed to bringing the benefits of discovery to the world by providing global access, impact, and influence for the scholarship that we publish and distribute. This position will help to ensure that the Press is a leader in the selection and development of innovative ideas and scholarship; the creation of pioneering technologies to enhance discovery and learning; and the connection of people to the most trusted knowledge from global researchers, scholars, and educators.
NOTE: This position is remote eligible during the pandemic. Once campus reopens, this position will be expected to report to the Homewood campus (Baltimore, MD) on a regular basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the Books marketing team with publicity efforts for scholarly monographs.
Assists Publicist in creating and scheduling content across JHUP social channels, with special attention to our brand voice.
With guidance from Publicist, tracks and submits books for award consideration.
Coordinates with publicity team to create press kits, organize files, and write copy as needed for each season's catalog of books.
Log media hits and marketing promotions into Allbooks (our title database system) or other JHUP systems.
Performs administrative tasks such as invoice processing, mailings, etc., for the marketing department.
Takes on special long-term projects, such as marketing research for special books or product lines.
High School diploma/GED and two years related experience required.
Additional education may substitute for experience.
Top-notch organizational skills; demonstrated ability to handle competing demands from various sources.

General working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Experience with databases, Filemaker, Adobe Photoshop, and Canva a plus.
