General Purpose: The Communications Specialist at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Research Administration office will work to fulfill existing communications needs and meet increasing new ones associated with JHU SOM ORA. The Communications Specialist will work to design and complete a new website for the Office of Research Administration and maintain it.
Reporting to the Assistant Dean and Executive Director of SOM Research Administration and the Sr. Administrative Manager the Communications Specialist will generate and execute story ideas and messaging, create, edit, implement and maintain content for the web, multimedia projects, and print materials.
Develop and implement a set of strategic messages about research, to be used widely and consistently in conjunction with key messaging regarding performance, customer service, outreach and effective compliance with sponsor and university SOM policies.
Develop and maintain content for the ORA SOM website.
Assess and develop strategy and content for the ORA Website
Write materials for the web and train Sr. Administrative Manager how to use Word Press.
Guide internal and external stakeholders on creating effective and user-friendly resources for print/web
Maintain relevant content on the website.
A Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of two years related experience in marketing communications, journalism, or writing required.
Master's degree preferred. Demonstrated experience in writing for the web and using social media for optimal audience engagement experience.
Research administration experience in a university setting and knowledge of current issues in sponsored projects strongly preferred.

Must be proficient with WordPress, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Mailchimp and social media platforms.
