University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking a Regulatory Operations Specialist to join Department of Vascular Surgery.

* Support the administration of the UMB Institutional Review Board (IRB) activities. * Provide administrative and logistical support for all panels of the IRB and UMB's Embryonic Stem Cell Research Oversight Committee (ESCRO). Serve as liaison between the IRB/Human Research Protection Program and other departments or the community. * Develop and schedule the IRB meeting activities in accordance with specifications and funding limitations; oversee daily operations and coordinates activities of the IRB; determine priorities. * Confer with and advise staff, students, and others to provide technical advice, problem-solving assistance, answers to research compliance questions, and Human Research Protection Program goals and policy interpretation; refer to appropriate department person when able to respond. * Coordinate activities of the Institutional Review Board and Human Research Protections Program with interrelated activities of other programs, departments, or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications. * Develop and maintain databases used to collect and analyze compliance data, track IRB fees billing processes, and maintain budgets, as well as monitor and evaluate program operating policies and procedures. * Evaluate Human Research Protections Program and the IRB Committee's effectiveness to develop improved methods; devise evaluation methodology and implements; analyze results and recommend and/or take appropriate action. * Review program documents independently and contact consultant and alternate members when required for scientific and ethical review. * Recruit program participants, members, and volunteers utilizing the most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such as individual letters, brochures, or presentations at meetings. * Develop, compile, and write communications and promotional literature for distribution such as IRB meeting materials, website content, etc. * Performs other duties as assigned
Education: Bachelors in a related field. Experience: Two (2) years of administrative/coordinator program experience. One (1) year experience with regulatory operations and administration governing the use of human subjects preferred.

Hiring Range: Commensurate with education and experience (Low to mid $50K)
