Goucher College seeks to hire a part-time Web Designer/Developer. Funded by Goucher College's National Endowment for the Humanities grant, this position will design, build, and facilitate access to a digital humanities website for the college.  This technical and subject matter expert will work closely with faculty to upgrade, incorporate, and present content related to art, artifacts, books, and documents from the College's collections on a digital platform, and mentor students in the design and web presentation of on-line exhibitions, a vital component of their project-based coursework.  

This is a two year grant funded position that will average 25 hours a week.



Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, Art, Marketing, Computer Science, or related field or demonstrated work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Proficiency in HTML/CSS/Javascript.
  • Experience with content management systems such as WordPress or Drupal.
  • Working knowledge of web servers and databases Experience in design programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Strong time management skills and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to conceptualize ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to webpages.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated passion for and coursework in the Humanities.
  • Command of UI and UX principles, and information architecture.
  • Knowledge of web standards compliance, SEO, and web accessibility best practices.
  • Experience with PHP or other scripting language.
