The University of Maryland Baltimore, Office of Human Resources is currently recruiting for a Compensation Professional to join the team. The selected candidate will assist with the development, implementation, and administration of the compensation programs for the University, such as implementation of job leveling of job description and development of electronic equity review and reporting.

Compensation Specialist Collaborate with client to determine compensation needs and develops appropriate action plans.
Consult with clients to determine and recommend effective and efficient organizational structure and resource allocation within budgetary constraints of the client.
Perform job analysis, job evaluation, and organizational analysis recognizing the multiple markets in which the University competes for talent. Participate in market salary surveys, equity reviews and reporting, and performs market pricing to determine internal and external job value and internal alignment. Identify job descriptions and career ladders to assist clients in designing effective career development opportunities within the unit and provide employees a line-of-sight to career pathways across campus.
Analyze compensation data to determine trends and variances. Recommend a variety of approaches to address variances and compensation issues. Identify, develop, and implement process improvements to enhance workflow and operations.
Review new positions in anticipation of recruitment to ensure appropriate classification. Based on position specific information, determine if an existing description are available for classification. As necessary, modify and create job descriptions that accurately reflect current roles, responsibilities and requirements.
Participate as a member of committees, projects, or initiatives. Assist in development of project plans and defining scope of work. May independently manage or administer programs, processes, projects, or resources.
Analyze compensation data integrity and provide recommendations to correct any issues. Follow up with clients to ensure data is accurate. Compensation Analyst Address day-to-day operational compensation questions and issues with internal and external clients.
Assist in administering compensation and salary programs for non-exempt and exempt employees to ensure internal and external equity.
Analyze queries and reports from human resource information system. Analyze compensation data, identify integrity issues, and provide recommendations to correct. Follow-up with clients to ensure data is accurate.
Assist in performing administrative tasks to establish, maintain, and support all aspects of job development for exempt and non-exempt positions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Compensation Specialist Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience in job analysis, job evaluation, or other directly related human resource experience, including demonstrated experience in database and spreadsheet tools.
Compensation Analyst Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of experience in job analysis, job evaluation, or other related human resource classification experience, to include demonstrated experience in database and spreadsheet tools. May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES Knowledge of all applicable compensation requirements, regulations, and laws. Understanding and importance of a well-crafted job description. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems especially MS Excel and Access. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
