Senior Communications and Events Specialist - (2000003F)
The University of Maryland Baltimore's Center for Global Engagement has an opportunity for a Senior Communications and Events Specialist . The Senior Specialist serves as the Center's communication and events lead, developing and implementing the Center's overall communication plan as well as leading the Center's event planning efforts. The selected candidate administers all communication and events projects from request to completion by coordinating workflow, timelines, and deadlines.

Assist in development and implementation of the Center for Global Engagement's communications operations, strategies, and initiatives to align with the mission and strategic priorities of the university.
Identify communications needs and implement strategies for the Center for Global Engagement (including developing and overseeing photography and videos, website design, social media, etc).
Lead all aspects of event planning for a variety of events, including, among others, the biennial UMB Global Health Summit (300+ attendees) and monthly Global Meet-Ups (virtual events that draw 75 attendees worldwide).
Maintain the Center's website so that it is up-to-date, easy-to-use, and always vibrant, never stale.
Analyzes, reviews, and reports on effectiveness of social media initiatives using qualitative metrics and online tools to maximize results.
Maintain the Center's social media presence, determining where the Center should have a presence, and keeping those sites and postings current and interesting.
Create novel approaches to communicating information about special events and services, such as campus-wide events for which the Center takes the lead, as well as Center-sponsored panel discussions; speaker series; special topic workshops; brown bag informational sessions; and events related to the Center's grant programs.
Develop promotional materials including content for reports, briefings, newsletters, and manage production and distribution of the monthly Global newsletter, online applications, registrations and other forms.
Establish and maintain a detailed global program and grantee (including alumni) database.
Conduct, compile, analyze and synthesize data in order to measure the success of various components of the communications strategy.
Recommend hardware, software, and other resources needed to meet the Center's communications and event needs.
Interact with communications representatives across campus to develop and maintain relationships, promote the work of the Center for Global Engagement, and respond to media inquiries. Collaborate with communications specialists in other UMB schools to promote their global programs.
Work with other event planners, faculty, and staff on campus to collaboratively and effectively manage events.
Provide design support for branding the Center for Global Engagement and other global initiatives in line with UMB branding guidelines.
Maintain communications and events administration and budgets.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Communications, English, Journalism, Business, Marketing, or other relevant degree.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in communications, media, public or client relations, or marketing.

Excellent verbal and written communication and editing skills.

Highly collaborative, with demonstrated experience working with diverse teams.
Skill in creating, curating and publishing multimedia content.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with multi-dimensional points of view and to take accountability for deliverables; skill in managing multiple complex tasks and projects concurrently; exceptional organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member.
Motivated and willing to take initiative and assume responsibility for executing initiatives.
Proficiency in utilizing Word and other Microsoft Office programs, as well as website development software, Constant Contact(TM), and other relevant products needed for communications and event planning.
High level of competency in public speaking and presenting.
Hiring Range for this position is low to mid 60's, commensurate with education and experience.
