Johns Hopkins University, one of the world's premier teaching, research and patient care institutions, is seeking candidates for the position of Quantitative Analyst within its Investment Office, reporting directly to the Associate Director in the Markets and Risk group. The Investment Office has responsibility for investing the endowments for the university, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and other related endowed entities totaling more than $5 billion, among many other assets. This analyst program will expose the candidate to institutional money management at a premier endowment, shaping his or her knowledge in all major asset classes globally.

The Quantitative Analyst will be an integral member of the Investment Office, taking on important responsibilities that span the endowment and related portfolios. The position will play an important role in supporting the overall portfolio allocation strategy and execution, risk management framework and processes, and financial data management and modeling. Specific responsibilities include:
Work closely with the Associate Director and senior investment leaders to develop and implement quantitative tools, models and reporting to support the organization in market strategy, risk management and other investment decision-making processes
Help improve the investment analytics infrastructure of the organization, including the design and implementation of new tools in performance attribution, liquidity modeling etc.
Help acquire, verify, process and analyze various forms of financial data through Excel or computer programming
Implement asset valuation models that combine quantitative and qualitative indicators
Perform ad-hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner
Aggregate financial research and summarize findings
The successful candidate will have training in math, finance and data science, and a demonstrated record of achievement at top-tier institutions. Ideally, the candidate will possess a good understanding of data strategy and quantitative modeling in the context of an investment organization. Attention to detail is another important quality. Strong academic and career achievement are required along with the highest standards of personal and professional ethics and integrity. Personal fit within a dynamic team is essential.
Minimum required education: Master’s degree, or Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of internship or fulltime work experience
Coursework in Computer Programming, Data Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, or similar fields is strongly preferred
