The Admissions Assistant provides support to graduate admission operations at Engineering for Professionals (EP), the part-time, graduate division of the JHU Whiting School of Engineering. The specialist has two main roles: (1) responding to student inquiries via phone and email which includes managing three department email accounts and (2) facilitating initial application process to ensure applications are ready for review and reviewing applications as needed.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Serve as first point of contact for all student service inquiries
Respond to student inquiries regarding admission, registration, or graduation
Answer all incoming calls to the main telephone line. Answer all incoming emails
Assist special investigators conducting student background investigations to obtain student records and disciplinary records
Responsible for courier and mail services, including distribution at the Wyman Building
Assist EP faculty/instructors with questions
Change student status of those who have not attended in past year to expired
Update new course information and course changes to ISIS
Identify applicants who need ITAR clearance
Work with Export Control office to clear foreign students for admission
Notify students of class cancellations due to instructor illness or weather conditions
Assist with graduation details, letters, and issues; graduating students with grading and degree audits
Upload potential student information to SIS and Slate.
Participate in EP services events, including advising sessions at APL
Serve as friendly point of contact for customer services related to transcripts, degree verification, and commencement
Serve as backup for coordinators who need assistance reviewing applications during peak admission time frames
Assist in directing incoming email to www.ep.jhu.edu mailbox, www.epadmissions.edu, and ep-transcripts.com
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (mandatory):
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communication, education management, or other related fields
0-2 years of administrative experience
Strong customer service skills
Attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication
Experience working in graduate admission or higher education
