This shop administrative part time position assumes primary responsibility for accounting and financial processes for the museum shop, visitor services, and on site tour management. Other responsibilities include shop support and staffing, shop sales and accounting. The Coordinator will be responsible for overall quality and safety of visitor experience. Weekly hours: 18 to 21 hours per week.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Security: Open and close, operate museum shop.
Shop: Primary work location is in the shop, responsible for shop staffing and sales, operate POS register system, and Quick- Books, run reports, conduct annual inventory, place shop orders, maintain inventory, general merchandizing. Promote and sell museum memberships. Make shop deposits and all credit card uploads,
Volunteer & Visitor Services: Warmly greet arriving volunteers and visitors, serve as point of contact Serve as Tour Manager for scheduled tours, scheduling and giving assignments to volunteer guides, be able to give introduction and/or serve as a guide.
General Museum Support: Assist other staff in a variety of ways – work with staff at Evergreen to plan and implement group tour promotion. Work with staff to assign tasks to students and volunteers. Coordinate and schedule adequate weekend shop staffing coverage and confirm with on-call staff/volunteers.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
High school diploma/GED required.
College degree preferred.
Museum experience preferred.
Interest in history, architecture, and decorative arts are a plus.
The ideal candidate will be proficient working with computers and software applications (including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Quick Books), have previous experience with retail accounting systems, and purchasing inventory for a small shop, and the ability to multitask and learn quickly.
The successful candidate will also exude warmth and graciousness and be customer-service oriented, including maintaining a professional appearance, polite manner and articulate communication. Initiative, creativity, problem-solving and a positive outlook are other important characteristics.
Some extra hours assisting with house events and programs including some evenings and weekends are expected throughout the year.
Any Specific Physical Requirements for the Job:
Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift and move 30 lbs. on a regular basis.
