The Development Associate will work closely with the Executive Director and members of the Board of Directors to maintain and expand a program of annual giving in support of SIF’s operations. The position is part time - 3 days a week. 22.5 hrs.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with Board members and Executive Director to update yearly business plan and budget for fundraising goals.
Help expand current list of prospective donors through board member networking, fundraising events and marketing opportunities. Keep donor list updated on listserv.
Supply board members and staff with a “case for giving” resources plus other marketing materials to recruit new donors.
Update info when needed.
Help facilitate development training during board meetings to help leadership carry out successful fundraising practices.
Work with the Executive Director and members of the Board to identify and implement SIF pilot programs in select geographical areas; Washington, DC; Prince Georges County; Anne Arundel County
Work with select Board committees- as identified by the Executive Director- to support and advance the mission of SIF.
Provide support to Executive Director and Fundraising Committee during fundraising events; Baltimore Run Festival, March Market Madness, Happy Hours and Trivia Nights.
Prepare written proposals according to the requirements of corporations, foundations and other institutions.
Work with the SIF Executive Director in managing SIF annual giving campaigns including composing appeal and letters, thank you letters.
Work with staff in ongoing marketing and PR efforts including SIF web page and social media.
Attend board and committee meetings to report fundraising efforts.
Answer inquiries from constituents and donors to facilitate giving.
Work with SIF’s Executive Director to maintain data and report to Board of Directors on annual giving and retention.
Minimum Qualifications (mandatory):
Bachelor’s degree and at least two years related experience required.
Must have own transportation and ability to work flexible hours including some evenings.
Intermediate Mac & PC experience.
Intermediate MS Office Suite experience (Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint).
Experience managing pages on social media and crowd-funding platforms (e.g., Facebook, Crowdrise, GoFundMe).
Ability to speak effectively in meetings with individuals or in presenting before groups.
Ability to draft and prepare written materials for marketing, letters and proposals.
Independent judgment and decision-making ability.
Good at motivating people and getting them excited about the mission of SIF.
Organized with strong writing and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail.
Experience or interest in fundraising/business development and event management a plus.
Experience or interest in communications, business or nonprofit management a plus.
Working knowledge of WordPress.
Working knowledge of email marketing platforms (e.g., MailChimp).

Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
