DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE AND FOUNDATION RELATIONS
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is seeking a Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations for the Office of Philanthropy . The director will be responsible for the University's strategic corporate and foundation funding goals and interface with programmatic leaders in the advance of this. This position will manage ongoing cultivation and engagement of existing and potential corporate and foundation supports through the development of mutually beneficial, long-term partnerships to maximize support for the University's strategic initiatives. Knowledge of local area grant funders a plus. The director will be responsible for leading a team of four others in achieving significant growth in the foundation funding of scholarship, research, programmatic, and educational programs and initiatives at the University's local, regional, national, and international levels.
UMB is comprised of 6.1 million square feet of complex medical research and state of the art clinical services and teaching space located in 65 buildings on 61 acres in downtown Baltimore. Comprised of 6 nationally ranked professional schools and an interdisciplinary graduate school, UMB annually enrolls approximately 6500 students and employs over 7000 faculty, professional and support staff.

Works closely with campus leadership, university administrators, development officers, faculty, and staff to identify funding priorities and provide strategic direction for corporate and foundation support. Responsible for the management and execution of the University portfolio of prospects.
Plan, research, cultivate, develop proposals, solicit, and steward corporate and foundation funders. Develops and recommends strategies to guide proposal processes. Writes and edits funding requests and correspondence.
Achieve aggressive financial targets, which produce restricted/unrestricted funds to support operational budget.
Create and maintain a high level of personal prospect contact with appropriate and relevant executive leadership to attract broader corporate interest, support, and investment in the University.
Maintain strategic partnership via marketing and branding opportunities with corporations and other sponsors.
Guide concept and manage the development of all corporate-related collateral materials.
Proactively seeks opportunities to generate proposals based on foundation and corporate interests that will result in funding for short-and long-term goals of the University.
Participates in fundraising committees, strategic planning sessions, and volunteer committees for the University.
Conducts visits with prospective and previous donors to strengthen relationships and to inform donors of areas that need support.
Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in development or related field, plus proven record of securing corporate and foundation gifts of at least six-to seven-figures.
Supervisory Experience: At least four (4) years of leadership or management experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of position requirements. Thorough knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to support a mission and strategic vision. Instructional, training, and teambuilding skills to strengthen and cultivate relationships. Skill in consultation and change management.
