TheGraduate School at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is seekingapplicants for a full-time Lecturer, non-tenure track, 12-month appointment, withexpertise in health and social entrepreneurship, innovation, human-centereddesign, or related field of study. The selected candidate will also hold theadministrative appointment of Health and Social Innovation Lab Faculty ExecutiveDirector. Lecturer appointments are long-term, renewable contracts and areeligible for promotion. The Faculty Executive Director will be responsible forestablishing and delivering a series of diverse and innovative programs thatwill equip and empower interprofessional student teams to impact and address healthand social disparities in Baltimore and beyond. In addition, the Faculty ExecutiveDirector will play a key part in building a foundation to support innovationand entrepreneurship activities and capacity at the University of Maryland,Baltimore.

TheGraduate School is working collaboratively to create the Health and Social InnovationLab,an interprofessional incubation and education space for students, faculty,and staff to join forces around topics that advance health and social equality.This space is housed in the west side of Baltimore and will be launching in theearly fall of 2017. The Health and Social Innovation Lab will be a catalyst anda gathering place for those seeking to work collaboratively to improve thehuman condition. Through the Lab, the Graduate School will develop innovativeand entrepreneurial resources to incubate, accelerate, and sustain newventures; organize interprofessional teams around key topics; createeducational opportunities; and foster partnerships and exchange with universityand industry partners.
Providestrategic direction and leadership of the Health and Social Innovation Lab.
Lead the curriculum design, coordination, andexecution of the upcoming MS in Health and Social Innovation and othercredit-bearing courses.
Teach in the Health and Social Innovation Master's and Certificate Programs offered through the Graduate School.
Provide students with exposure to practitioners, professionals, and faculty in urban development, social entrepreneurship, regulation, and finance through small neighborhood Capstone Entrepreneurial Clinics in the Health and Social Innovation Lab.
Plan, develop, and deliver high quality co-curricular learning opportunities in innovation and entrepreneurship for students to help them achieve course and program learning goals, in accordance with the Graduate School's mission, values and ethos.
Collaborate with faculty and administrators in different departments and divisions to integrate innovation and design-thinking support services and programs across the university.
Create systems and programs that develop alternative career pathways for students in biomedical research and other professional programs with dual degree options (MD/MS, PhD/MS, JD/MS, DDS/MS, PharmD/MS).
Work in collaboration with University Development and Advancement to create relationships with investors and donors.
Assess programs & services and determine the impact on student learning and economic development.
Provide visionary oversight over marketing and recruitment for entrepreneurial graduate programs, Graduate School website and social media, and overall communication strategy for the Graduate School.
Develop relationships with external stakeholders in the health sciences industry to create sustainability around marketing and recruitment efforts (hospital administrators, professional organization leadership, faculty and advisors from surrounding undergraduate health sciences programs).
Earned master's degree; PhD or other doctoratedegree in in a related field is preferred.
Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence;and demonstrated experience working in a health and social entrepreneurship andinnovation environment.
Expertise or formal education in business,entrepreneurship, and/or participatory design is preferred.
Strong candidates will also have demonstratedinterest in interprofessional, online student-centered learning and studentadvising.
