Senior Social Worker or Lead Social Worker - (180000YC)
The University of Maryland School of Social Work (UMSSW) has an opportunity for a Senior or Lead Social Worker to coordinate and deliver activities related to the integration of health and behavioral health services and the training of social workers in behavioral health methods. Current programs within the UMSSW include: the Behavioral Health Workforce Integration Service and Education (BHWISE) program, which provides education and training to students working in behavioral health settings; the Title IVE program, which trains child welfare workers to address issues of substance abuse among their clients, and the Substance Use Disorder Internship Program (SUDIP), an internship program focused on developing social work workforce capacity specific to the treatment of substance use disorders This position will be filled depending on the chosen applicant's qualifications.

Help identify and develop partnerships with agencies that provide evidence-based substance use disorder (SUD) treatment or related services.
Support success of student interns and MSW graduates working within core SUD agencies through meetings, collaborations, and training activities for students and agency staff.
Assist in development of policies, protocols, training manuals, or procedures as requested.
Work with UMSSW faculty to prepare sections of grants and written reports.
Track measures related to student and field agency participation in behavioral health programs.
Provide information sessions and marketing activities related to student and agency recruitment in field internship programs.
Develop plans by identifying programs and services available for a variety client issues dealing with challenges, change, and crisis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities of the Lead Social Worker:
Lead a social services program, project, or team.
Supervise other social workers, interns, students, or employees.
Senior Social Worker: Masters in Social Work. Licensed as Certified Social Work (LCSW) in the State of Maryland. One (1) year post-licensure (LCSW) experience in related area of treatment including responsibility for training, work coordination, and monitoring the work of others. Lead Social Worker: Masters in Social Work. Clinical (LCSW-C) in the State of Maryland. Two (2) years post-licensure (LCSW-C) experience related experience in area of behavioral health treatment (including substance abuse treatment) including responsibility for training, work coordination, and monitoring the work of others. State of Maryland Board Approval as a designated supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of best practices in the field as well as relevant federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and programs/policies utilizing proper application of diagnostic tools
Knowledge of mental health, health and substance use problems.
Skilled in screening, assessment, brief interventions and referral to treatment.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interact with a diverse client population using various approved interviewing techniques and consultative approaches
Ability to continuously seek improvements in order to support the goals and strategic mission of the program.
Ability to use a consultative approach to resolve issues in area of responsibility.
Ability to use measurable and verifiable information for resolving problems and facilitating decision-making processes.
Excellent organizational and project management skills. Ability to manage situations with tact, diplomacy, understanding, and fairness. Ability to maintain confidentiality of clients and information obtained during treatment.
Demonstrated leadership ability and effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with professional standards, HIPAA (Health Information Portability & Accountability Act) and FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) and state regulations.
Ability to independently review and authorize documentation of others for reimbursement or grant submissions.
Ability to work as part of a team, as well as with individuals and/or families from diverse ethnic, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Skill in social work supervision.
Proficient in information technology word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Hiring Range for the Senior Social Worker is low to mid $60Ks, commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range for the Lead Social Worker is mid to high $60Ks, commensurate with education and experience.
