This position plays a vital role in supporting the priorities and initiatives of the JHM Office of Telemedicine and the Executive and Preventive Health Program. The Business Services Analyst's efforts have a focus on, but are not limited to, outpatient operations, projects, and OJHP initiatives. With a direct reporting relationship to the administrative directors of Telemedicine and Executive Health, this position is responsible for providing supporting business development and management, data analytics and guidance in methods of improvement science for operational projects and proposals. A significant portion of the analyst's effort will be devoted to providing decision support aiding the offices in meeting financial and operational targets and identifying, developing and leading business service plans using analytical tools and insights on operational and clinical performance, market trends and the competitive environment, as well as legislative and regulatory impact. The Business Services Analyst may also be assigned special projects as needed.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The Business Services Analyst must be able to analyze, compile, manipulate, and interpret data from multiple sources; present and format data and technical information for various end users; identify and illustrate relationships among complex activities, and facilitate and organize meetings.
Business Services Analyst works with clients, physicians, administrators and other clinical staff to identify key issues and develop hypotheses. The Analyst will use analytic driven process for problem solving to include identification and execution of relevant qualitative and quantitative analyses; must understand and use an analytic driven process to develop recommendations that are both meaningful and actionable to synthesize findings and motivate client to make decisions. Researches issues/problems and business practices evaluating business impact and, utilizing critical thinking to resolve data or procedural problems; works with various groups to define problems and potential solutions and recommends the most appropriate solution
Requires the ability to analyze, compile, manipulate, and interpret unstructured analytical data. Must be able to present and format data and technical information for various end users. Must also be able to make detailed recommendations for further data analysis.
Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management including, JHM personnel, department heads, vendors, and consultants. Must have demonstrated skills working and responding to various customer requests for data and information. Must have solid analytical management skills. Requires the ability to deliver end user reports and information within established timeframes.
Ability to make independent judgments and to act on decisions on a daily basis. Ability to work for long periods of time without direction.
Ability to prioritize own work and work of staff as needed. Ability to work with flexibility on several tasks simultaneously and to meet various concurrent deadlines.
Very strong organizational skills, analytical and problem solving abilities, and attention to detail.
Minimum of three years of professional experience in health care management, finance or information systems is required.
Master's Degree may be substituted for some experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
A professional level of knowledge of healthcare data information management in health care administration/policy, business administration, or a related field as well as specialized training in information technology or database management strongly preferred.
Knowledge of Tableau, SAP and EPIC strongly preferred.
Proficiency in the use of MS Office; knowledge of JHU policies, procedures, and administrative/financial systems preferred.
Previous work experience in administration at a higher education institution with a strong customer service orientation preferred.
