University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB) Francis King Carey School of Law is currently seeking a Director of Alumni Counseling and Career Development. The Director of Alumni Counseling and Career Development provides strategic direction and support to the Assistant Dean for Career Development. The Director manages the professional development and job search efforts to facilitate the employment of students and alumni, with an emphasis on graduating students and recent alumni. This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Career Development.

Supports the Assistant Dean for Career Development in the management of the Office's programs and objectives targeting student and alumni employment.
Takes an active approach to counseling individual students and alumni on all phases of their job searches to secure employment, working in close collaboration with other counseling staff.
Plans and implements educational professional development programming to assist students and recent graduates in developing their career plan, advancing their job search and connecting with alumni, members of the practicing bar, and potential employers.
Works closely with Assistant Dean, the Data & Resources Specialist and counseling team to help implement and ensure the Office's compliance with graduate employment data collection and reporting protocols required by the American Bar Association for ABA-accredited law schools.
Utilizes CDO databases and resources to document, monitor and help report annual graduate employment outcomes.
Monitors the legal job market, making the data, trends and best practices researched an integral part of the career advising information that the Office communicates to students and graduates.
Develops and oversees the production of electronic and printed materials related to the job search and employment, including information used for job search guides and web resources.
Develops and maintains contacts with legal employers, and national and regional professional organizations such as the American Bar Association (ABA), the National Association for Law Placement (NALP), and local bar associations.
Assist the Assistant Dean for Career Development in other matters as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Counseling and/or related field. Juris Doctorate or Master's degree in Counseling preferred and can be substituted for relevant experience.
Experience: Seven (7) years of experience spent progressively building a background in the various departmental functions
Supervisory: Three (3) years of experience at a leadership level at an Assistant Director level.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The qualified candidate will have knowledge of best practices in the field, strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, and a demonstrated willingness to motivate and assist students and alumni in all aspects of their professional development.
Hiring Range: Mid $70K to low $80K - Commensurate with education and experience
