Program Specialist, Industry Alliances - (180000N2)
The University of Maryland, Baltimore Office of Research and Development is seeking a Program Specialist to provide business development and program support to the Industry Alliances group. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Industry Alliances, this individual maintains day to day coordination and operations for Industry Alliances. This position works closely with other members of the Office of Research and Development team but is expected to work independently on assignments and projects that require sound judgement and ingenuity.

Supports Industry Alliances' business development and marketing efforts to attract sponsored research opportunities and clinical trials from pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies and federal agencies. Responsible for implementing follow-up procedures that result from the AVP and Director's marketing efforts including communications through standard methods and social media, scheduling meetings, preparation of webpages and PowerPoint presentations, planning and hosting business events and tours of the BioPark.
Organizes and streamlines office systems and files to build efficiency and a high-functioning office. Maintains the client relationship management platform to track Industry Alliances' business development and marketing efforts and to measure growth. Supports daily operations for the leadership of Industry Alliances and the Baltimore and Maryland Fund Directors that will cultivate relationships with industry to attract new partners to Baltimore and UMB.
Acts as intermediary for AVP and directors, interacting with UMB leadership, staff at all levels, and the outside/community agencies. Serves as a primary contact and thinks critically about all aspects of the program to resolve questions and make decisions related to how to best serve clients.
Responsible for coordination of project-specific schedules and all travel coordination for the leadership of Industry Alliances. Coordinates schedule, expenses, and meeting content with internal and external parties; responsible for administrative follow-up. Financial responsibilities include tracking expenses, submitting reports, and recordkeeping.
Provides planning support for board meetings, conferences, and committees including managing and maintaining communication materials and presentations.
Researches, analyzes and summarizes information and source materials for reports independently and communicates findings orally and in writing. May provide general facilitation of the Office of Research and Development in the front office. Over time, expected to gain knowledge of UMB policies and programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or business preferred; other degrees may be considered upon coursework review.
Experience: Two (2) years program coordination experience
Other: Substitution of experience for minimum education requirement may be permitted.

Familiarity working with business plans and deal financing is preferred.

Required proficiency in word processing, creating and maintaining spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and using databases such as client relationship management systems.
