The Department of Radiology is seeking a full time Sr. Administrative Manager will have oversight of one of the clinical/research division of Nuclear Medicine in the Department of Radiology. Reporting jointly to the Division Chief of Nuclear Medicine and the Associate Administrator of the Department of Radiology, the Sr. Administrative Manager will assist and guide the financial, research, and clinical operating activities for the Division. This position provides high-level leadership and management of the financial, operational, and administrative activities to advance the Department's clinical, research, and education mission.
Key program components include the PET Service Center, the Physician clinical practice, Division Research programs with Sponsored Funding, and development of new products and service lines within the Division.
Administrative and Operational Leadership:
Working in partnership with Division Chief and Associate Administrator, and in coordination with the program directors, provides administrative oversight of all Nuclear Medicine programs, developing policies and oversees the implementation and monitoring of services and sets guidelines for effective, efficient, and innovative operations.
Develop new administrative policies and procedures, as needed, to ensure smooth operation of the department.
Make recommendations to the Division Chief in the form of decision options.
Will assist the Division Chief in managing confidential faculty affairs.
Ensure space and equipment inventories are maintained in compliance with SOM, and governmental guidelines.
Outline existing opportunities to improve space utilization and define needs and justification for additional space to the Division.
Works with appropriate groups and individuals to assure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Oversees and directs the implementation of major projects, programs and operational initiatives/changes as assigned by the Division Chief and Associate Administrator.
Sets in place proper monitoring measures.
Maintains a consultative relationship with research and clinical unit directors for strategic planning, financial performance and operational matters.
Coordinates communication and organization among key stakeholders in relation to external program activities that interface with the departmental operations.
Routinely holds meetings and organizes project teams for the clarification of issues, communication of guidelines and information, problem solving, project management and team development.
Provides administrative and operational oversight to managers and supervisors developing policies and oversees the implementation and monitoring of services and sets guidelines for effective, efficient and innovative operations.
Program Planning and Development:
Develops and participates in the analysis and evaluation of strategic business plans, feasibility studies, market assessment, marketing plans, data gathering, implementation plans and presentation of written reports on prospective and existing clinical and research programs.
Formulate tactical business plans in conjunction with administrative leaders in the SOM, JHHS, and other affiliated institutions.
Works with Department of Strategic Planning & Marketing (and other marketing resources as needed) to initiate, develop and implement marketing plans for clinical services and research programs as needed.
Identify new marketing opportunities compatible with the direction of Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Oversee website content management, maintenance and future development enhancements.
Assists the Division Chief and the Associate Administrator in strategic planning, special projects.
Serves on SOM committees as directed, representing Nuclear Medicine's interests.
External Relationship Management:
Develop strategies to promote the utilization of commercialized discoveries areas operationally managed by the Department.
Serves as the central interface with key regulators concerning Radiation Safety, licensure, manufacturing practices, and certification.
Internal Relationship Management:
Builds strong collaboration with Division Chief and Administrator Division's goals are met.
Proactively identify faculty concerns and issues, and partners with Administrator for appropriate resolution.
Regularly meets with Division employees and Faculty to improve communication and to build productive relationships.
Continuously communicates to staff the importance of the all Division members concentrating their activiites in the areas of the expertise.
Establishes communication channels with staff and faculty to ensure that they receive information on internal and external issues which effect the operations of their assigned areas, as well as provide advice, assistance, information and service that aids them in attaining related objectives.
Works with appropriate personnel and/or organizations to ensure that teams and individuals have the clinical, information and organizational tools to serve our patients and customers effectively and efficiently.
Supervision of Others:
Directs the activities of managers, supervisors and support staff of the Division.
Oversees individual employee development, safety, and training; and conducts performance appraisals for management level, professional and support staff positions.
Responsible for direct supervision of clinic managers/supervisors and leads.
Indirect supervision/management of all faculty and staff within the department.
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or other related field required; minimum of five years of experience in a financial and administrative position, preferably in an academic or medical setting. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Master's degree preferred. Experience in an academic or medical institution preferred.
Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Ability to make independent judgments and to act on decisions on a daily basis. Ability to work for long periods of time without direction.
Ability to prioritize own work and work of staff as needed. Ability to work with flexibility on several tasks simultaneously and to meet various concurrent deadlines.
Very strong organizational skills, analytical and problem solving abilities, and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of University and Hospital employees as well as outside contacts.
