The Mail Carrier delivers and picks up mail and packages on the MICA Campus and performs Postal & Print operations including printing and shipping.
General purpose: The Mail Carrier prepares incoming US Mail and packages for distribution and assists in processing of outgoing mail and packages; delivers all types of mail, packages and cases of paper to campus buildings. The position requires picking up all types of outgoing mail and packages from designated locations/departments on Campus; and electronically receiving and tracking incoming accountable mail and packages. The position also requires printing documents, classroom materials and student art prints for class assignments.
Position responsibilities: • Sort incoming US Mail to the recipients campus location • Arrange the mail for the delivery route then deliver and pick up campus mail • Sort outgoing and inter-campus mail then meter outgoing US Mail pieces using a postage meter • Lift and carry mail and/or boxes up to 70 lbs • Operate standard office equipment and postal services machines and computers • Perform other related duties as assigned
Ability to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service • Ability to provide retail assistance at the customer window • Ability to learn campus building locations and become familiar with Faculty and Staff names • Ability to sort and process mail
Minimum Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent • Ability to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service
Valued but not required skills and experience: • Some college or a Bachelor’s degree • Cash register experience and other customer service experience • Experience with US Postal Service, UPS and FedEx shipping services • Familiarity with MS Word and Excel, FedEx ShipManager, and UPS Worldship
