This position in the Department of Epidemiology reports to the Director of the Cochlear Center for Hearing and Public Health in conjunction with Department of Epidemiology senior leadership. This position has administrative responsibility for coordination of complex academic program elements requiring collaboration with students, faculty, and other departments and programs.
Performs duties and responsibilities of Academic Program Coordinator
Provides support for Cochlear Center for Hearing and Public Health-sponsored academic activities and trainee research opportunities
Assists with and makes recommendations regarding student recruitment and marketing efforts for Cochlear Center for Hearing and Public Health-affiliated programs
Develops, plans, schedules and leads information sessions related to Cochlear Center for Hearing and Public Health training opportunities and requirements
Coordinates admissions process, working with JHSPH Department of Epidemiology Admissions and Recruitment Committee and Academic Support Core; JHSPH MPH Office; and other relevant JHSPH training programs (e.g., Epidemiology and Biostatistics of Aging T32 Training Program)
Orients new trainees to the Cochlear Center for Hearing and Public Health
Advises students on academic requirements, coordinating with student’s home department/program. May handle sensitive personal issues with students
Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive environment to ensure that the educational and professional needs of trainees are met
Works together with Cochlear Center for Hearing and Public Health faculty and Department of Epidemiology budget analysts to monitor student stipend, travel funds and other related expenditures accounting to ensure that funds are allocated and expended appropriately
Administers annual trainee survey
May provide support to student groups
May oversee the work of less experienced employees or students
May independently manage specific program activities
High School Diploma/GED.
Five years progressively responsible administrative/academic experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $18.04 - $24.81; Commensurate with experience

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
