General Purpose: Plans and implements programs and projects, using data-driven best practice strategies with relation-based engagement for alumni and parents community. Develops and executes a comprehensive strategy to engage alumni and parents to transform the culture of engagement, building, nurturing and strengthening relationships with key members of the MICA family, resulting in life-long engagement with and support of the College. In addition to increasing engagement, reports progress through strategic engagement metrics.
Summary of Essential Functions: ? Plans, implements and measures engagement programs and projects which support the strategic plan of the College ? Serve as the major liaison to the Alumni Council ensuring alumni feedback is effectively utilized to improve the College as a whole ? Develops and regularize communications vehicles, both print and web based with messaging specific to alumni and parents in collaboration with the Communications Office and Annual Fund team ? Partners with undergraduate and graduate staff and faculty to engage alumni and students creating a strong student to alumni transition at the College
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: ? Provides visionary leadership to the Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement providing strong management of the Alumni and Parent Engagement team ? Guides and supports the Alumni Council and coordinates the involvement of the Council with the university. Works to ensure that the Council goals and strategies are aligned with departmental goals and strategies ? Creates strategy for Cornerstone, Harry Pratt Society, MasterGuild and other groups in partnership with key volunteers. ? Develops annual and multi-year engagement goals in collaboration with the team and AVP ? Works with direct reports to develop plans and strategies that leverages resources toward achieving stated goals informed and measured regularly by data ? In conjunction with database administrators, coordinates the collection of constituency engagement data on a consistent and continual basis ? Mentors and supervises the team to develop individual potential, high motivation and superior teamwork ? Works with the AVP to identify and implement a comprehensive engagement strategy and to create metrics for success, both for the program and for each team member ? Effectively manages projects and resources, directing program improvement, standardizing office systems and procedures to accomplish projects and task. ? Responds to constituent outreach in a timely, helpful and appropriate fashion ? Brings and implements a strong understanding of best practices and how to appropriately redefine said practices in a changing industry ? Manages a small, targeted portfolio names to cultivate and steward a closer relationship to the College ? Partner with key members of the Admissions office to spearhead the introduction of alumni involvement in the admissions process; partner with the Director of Career Development to plan the growth and accessibility of career networking services for students and alumni ? Supervises the maintenance of alumni and parent content areas on MICA’s website ? Completes internal & external information inquiries, surveys and reports. ? Performs other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: ? Proven talent to engage and motivate volunteers ? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues throughout the College including students, alumni, parents, friends, and the general public ? Demonstrated ability to strategically build and implement constituent based programs and activities ? Demonstrably strong planning and organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment ? Ability to research and gather information through various methods ? Excellent verbal and written communication and proofreading skills with attention to detail ? Ability to be flexible and take initiative, as well as to work independently ? High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information ? Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting deadlines ? Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed ? Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, word, excel, access, power point, and outlook ? Interpret and apply institutional policies and procedures
Minimum Qualifications: ? Undergraduate degree required ? Proven experience in alumni relations and external affairs or a similar setting with measurable results ? Demonstrated fundraising and/or sales experience ? Proven experience in leading high-performing teams
Preferred Qualifications: ? Familiarity with data entry and donor management software applications such as Raiser’s Edge, Research Pointe, etc. ? Experience and/or interest in contemporary art forms across the disciplines
