University of Maryland Baltimore is currently seeking an Alumni Relations Events Specialist to join the School of Medicine, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (PTRS). The Alumni Relations Events Specialist for the PTRS department will be expected to develop and cultivate relationships with PTRS alumni, develop programming for PTRS alumni and coordinate annual alumni activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the PTRS leadership team to develop a comprehensive alumni program that engages alumni. This position is part time 50% and will require some travel for the purpose of alumni cultivation. This position may be required to work some nights and weekends.

Develop and cultivate relationships with PTRS alumni, develop programming for PTRS alumni, and coordinate annual alumni activities. Develop plan and goals for special events.
Plan, implement, and promote alumni programs (reunions, special events, and student-alumni networking opportunities) that support the PTRS strategic plan.
Develop, maintain, and update alumni databases, mailing addresses, and other records.
Educate graduating students about alumni benefits and engage them in alumni activities and programs with the goal of ongoing commitment to and participation in PTRS activities.
Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni via direct contact, email blasts, alumni web pages, print and online publications.
Manage alum of the year election, awarding, and inclusion in publications.
Responsible for facility logistic aspects of events or meetings, including set-up and tear down, seating arrangements, technical matters, and atmosphere.
Generate proposals, contracts and other documents to secure business for all services related to an assigned event(s), such as facility, caterer, printers, or speakers. Negotiate terms and conditions of alumni event contracts.
Manage all logistic aspects of multiple events or meetings management, including scheduling, event theme, catering, and marketing.
May supervise staff and/or volunteers during events ensure the efficient recruitment/ interviewing and training functions for maintaining highly involved and motivated employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelors in Communications, Marketing, or Business preferred, other degrees may be considered upon coursework review.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in event or meeting management, fundraising or development, public or client relations preferably with experience in alumni relations.
Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.

Leadership, coaching and team building skills to strengthen and cultivate alumni relationships.
Strategic and analytical thinking skills coupled with the ability to solve problems and make decisions.
An ability to prioritize ongoing and new projects, as well as conduct research and gather information.
