The Choice Program is administered by The Shriver Center, the service-learning and community engagement hub of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). The Choice Program has served over 20,000 youth in Maryland for 30 years. The Choice Jobs Program prepares Baltimore area youth to successfully enter today’s workforce. We deliver community-based vocational services to young people, using a model that includes job readiness and life skills training, paid on-the-job training experience at our social enterprise, and supported job placement.
The Choice Program at UMBC is seeking a Financial Management Specialist for its social enterprise franchise, Flying Fruit.
The Financial Management Specialist provides financial management and operational support to 3 Flying Fruit (FF) social enterprise locations. These business locations serve as The Choice Program's on-the-job training for young people to gain valuable employment skills.
Reporting to the Choice Jobs Assistant Director, the incumbent will work to ensure the fiscal health of the social enterprise by reviewing financial reports, monitoring accounts, preparing sales reports and financial forecasts, and investigating ways to improve profitability. The position will also serve as the primary liaison to all business vendors, offer marketing support and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor's degree and food service management experience. Experience with point of sale, data entry, Excel, accounting systems, and inventory control desirable. Position requires use of automobile & valid driver's license.
Note: Due to the nature of the work flow and level of responsibility, this individual maintains a flexible schedule which goes beyond a 40 hour work week. Evening and weekend work involved.
